Vickie Miller - Owner of Decorate with Bamboo

Hi, I’m Vickie!

My name is Vickie, the owner of DecoratewithBamboo.com. I am an Interior Decorator and in the past I have always. designed homes with lots of heavy woods and materials such as oak, pine, mahogany, and stones like granite and marble. Then a friend of mine wanted me to decorate her home in a tropical theme with bamboo and other Eco-Friendly accessories.

As I was doing my research for the project, I learned of the many uses of natural products such as bamboo, coconuts, natural grasses and fibers and how beautiful, unique, and eco-friendly it all was. These materials, like bamboo, are considered eco-friendly because they don’t cause damage to the environment when items made from these materials are produced or disposed of.

Although very popular in Asia, Bamboo is still new and upcoming in the Western World. Even though bamboo is extremely durable, it is a very lightweight material and a natural renewable resource. For this reason, Bamboo has become one of the main elements used in Feng Shui Design which is said to be the key to tranquil and harmonious living.

So if you are searching for products that are aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly, you have come to the Perfect Online Store. Did you know that bamboo has become the “Eco-Exotic” Wood of the future?

Bamboo has a wide variety of uses from building materials food, to baby clothes? The shoots or new “culms” that come out of the ground are edible. They are used in numerous Asian dishes and broths. It is known for it’s sweet taste and good source of nutrients. In traditional medicine, the silicious concretion found the young culms known as “bamboo Manna” is said to be a tonic for respiratory disease.

Bamboo Fibers are used to make fabric which is extremely soft, absorbent, antibacterial, hypoallergenic, UV resistant and Thermo-regulating. And of course, Bamboo is a great construction material because it is very strong, lightweight and extremely durable. The very dense fibers in each bamboo cane give the plant extreme flexibility, allowing it to bend without snapping and because of this amazing tensile strength Bamboo structures are known to withstand winds of up to 250 miles per hour!

In earthquakes, a bamboo forest is actually a very safe place to take shelter, and houses made of bamboo have been known to withstand 9.0 magnitude quakes. For thousands of years bamboo has been the go-to building material for most of the world. It is believed that if bamboo were planted on a mass basis it could completely reverse the effects of global warming in just 6 years, while providing a renewable source of food, building material, and erosion prevention.
